ABOUT US!

Why is Conservation important?

1.Climate Change

The weather is getting more and more extreme. Within the last century, global average temperatures have risen by over 1oC.  That may seem like a very small change, but imagine how much energy it needs to raise the temperature on ALL the earths’ oceans, including on the poles.

The effect that this change in temperature is seen worldwide in form of more consistent droughts, floods, landslides, wild fires, and generally disrupted patterns of nature that were previously predictable.

Only a few decades ago, farmers could accurately predict with near precision when the rains would start, enabling them to prepare their land and plant just before the rains. Now, this is more difficult as the weather has become more unpredictable.

2.
Species extinction

Plants provide food and homes for animals (habitat). Without it, the animals risk going extinct.

3.

Human-Wildlife-Conflict

A problem that is getting more and more out of hand as human populations grow and expand into previously unoccupied land, normally wildlife corridors and dispersal areas.

Wildlife raid farmer’s crops, predate on livestock, injure and even cause human deaths. The law allows for government to compensate through the KWS, but this takes a long time.

To most Local communities, wildlife is a source of pain. We can change this perception by:

Solution

What Can we do about the Environment ?

We have to plant more indigenous trees to create, rehabilitate and restore degraded land.

We then need to protect that habitat.

This means that wildlife will roam less into community areas in search of food. If you’d like more information on how to get involved Please enter your details in the form and we will get back to you
